 පෙර එක දවසක..  රේවත ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ ගංගා නදී තීරයේ සමවත් සුවයෙන් වැඩ සිටිනව. මේ අවස්ථාවේ මේ ස්ථානයට එක්තරා ප්‍රේතියක්  පැමිණෙනව.  මෙ ප්‍රේතිය පැමිණිලා උන්වහන්සේගෙන් බීමට පැන් දෝතක්  ඉල්ලනව. මෙ ස්වාමින් වහන්සේ ප්‍රේතියගෙන් අහනවා..  මේ තරම් සිහිල් තියෙන සිහිල් දිය ගලා ගෙන යන ගංගාවක් අසළ ම ඔබ ඉද, එ ගංගාවෙන්ම පැන් පහසුකම තිබියදී, ඇයි මගෙන් ඔබ පැන් ඉල්ලන්නේ කියලා,

 එවිට ඒ ප්‍රේතිය පිළිතුරු දෙනවා..  අනේ ස්වාමීනී මේ ගඟ ගලාගෙන යන ජල දහරාව, මම පැන් ටිකක් අරගෙන බොන්න ගත්තහම, ඒව සේරම මට ලේ බවට පත් වෙලා පේන්නෙ, ලේ බවට පත්වෙනවා..  එනිසා ස්වාමීනි මට පැන්  දෝතක් දෙන්න දිය පිපාසාව සංසිඳුවා ගන්නට කියලා.., පිංවතුනි.. රේවත හාමුදුරුවෝ ඇයගේන්ම විමසන්නට වුණා මේ කාරණාව මෙහෙම වීමට කුමක්ද සිදුවුන හේතුව කියලා..., මැය මනු ලොව ඉපදිලා ඉන්න කාලයේ මැයගෙ පුතා, පිංවතුනි උත්තර කියලා පුතෙක් සිටියා. උත්තර කියන පුතා හරිම ශ්‍රද්ධාවන්තයි,  එක දවසක් කච්චායන ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේට ඉතාම ශ්‍රද්ධාවෙන් යුක්තව දන් දෙනවා. මෙන්න මේ දන් දෙන අවස්ථාවේ.., මේ පුතාගේ මව මසුරු කමින් ලෝභ කමෙන් පුතාට බැන වදින්නට උනා. ඔය මහණ බමුණන්ට දන් දෙන්න එපා, දන්දීමෙන් ප්‍රතිඵලයක් නෑ කියලා නොයෙක් කරුණු කිව්වා. එවා පුතා අහන්නේ නැතුව කච්චායන හාමුදුරුවන්ට ගෞරවාන්විත සිතින් යුතුව දන් පූජා කළා. අම්මගේ වචනය අහපු නැති නිසා ඇය සාප කරනවා. ඔබ ඔය දීපු දානය පරලොව දී ඔබට ලේ බවට පත් වේවා.. කියලා,  පිංවතුනි ඒක පුතාට නෙවෙයි එකතු වුණේ., අම්මා මිය පරලොව ගිහින් ප්‍රේත ලෝකයක  ඉපදුනා ප්‍රේතියක් බවට පත්වෙලා. ආහාර අනුභවයක් ලබාගන්න බෑ.. ලැබෙන හැම දේම දකින හැමදේම ලේ බවට පත්වෙලා. එනිසා ඔබත් ඔබේ ජීවිතයේ අවබෝධ කරගන්න,, කෙනෙක් සිදු කරන පින්කම් අවතක්සේරුවෙන් දකින්න එපා. ඒ කරන පිංකම බාල විදියට කිරීමට උපදෙස් ලබා දෙන්න එපා. ඒ කරන පිංකම වැළැක්වීමට ඔබ කටයුතු කරන්න එපා. පිංවතුනි එවිට,,  ඔබට එහි පාපි ක්‍රියාවේ ආදීනව ඔබේ පිටුපසින් ගමන් කරනවා. නිසා මේ පුංචි බණ පදය ජීවිතයට එකතු කරගන්න. ජීවිතයට එකතු කරගෙන පින් දහම් සිදු කරන්න. මනස එක අරමුණක තියාගෙන ලස්සනට පින්කම් සිදු කරලා මේ සංසාරික බව ගමන කෙටි කර ගෙන උතුම් නිවනට මඟ සාදා ගන්න...

Asoka barb, puntius asoka, අශෝක පෙතියා

 

There are two pairs of small shoots. There are small dots on the line of scales. The fins are yellow. There is a black spot near the tail.  There are two red stripes on the upper and lower edges of the tail. An adult fish is about four and a half inches long. Lives in rocky streams. Seethawaka Oya from Kitulgala to Avissawella. Endemic to  Sri Lanka.

It is found in shady, clean and shallow streams. This fish is about 18 to 10 inches long when grown. They are found in the wet zone and the central highlands as well as in the dry zone. Eats small insects such as worms. When scared, the color changes body color. Used for trade. Gurami is a species endemic to Sri lanka.😋😁😀💗

Freshwater Fish ornate paradise fish

 

This is one of the most beautiful freshwater fish in the country. The clear blue-green floral patterns on the fins enhance their beauty. The specialty of these fish, unlike other fish, is that they do not get water-soluble oxygen through the gills and come to the surface from time to time to get normal air from the atmosphere. There is a triangular area between Colombo, Galle and Ratnapura districts. It has slow-flowing streams with a well-shaded muddy bottom. Zoologists say Malpulutta is confined to these waterways.Endemic to Sri Lanka.

Freshwater Fish Purplehead barb or Black ruby barb or Pethia nigrofasciata

Scientific name: Pethia nigrofasciata

        

        Bulathhapa, an endemic fish species of Sri Lanka, is extremely rare and endangered.

The wet zone up to 300 m above sea level up to the Kelani and Nilwala river valleys is inhabited by clean and slow flowing waterways.

Grows up to 6cm long.

It is a valuable fish species with a mixed body color of red, black, silver and yellow-gray.

They are included in the Red Data Book and are banned from exporting. Lifespan is about 5 years.

Freshwater fish in Sri Lanka

 

Introduction

Freshwater Fishes are endemic to ecosystems such as rivers, streams, tanks and ponds spread all over Sri Lanka. cies recorded only in the freshwater environment.

Of these, 53 species are endemic to Sri Lanka.

This native freshwater fish is classified into 18 species and 14 species.

According to a Red Data Report on Endangered Species in 2012, about 45 species of freshwater fish in Sri Lanka are endangered.

Of these, 39 species are endemic. .

Three major Fisheries Zones in Sri Lanka have also been introduced.

Southwest Zone - Wet zone areas from Attanagallu Oya basin to Nilwala river basin. 
Mahaweli Zone - Area in the Mahaweli river basin
Management Dry Zone - All other dry zone areas except the above areas
Although our country is very rich in fish resources, as mentioned earlier, their existence is threatened by deforestation. increased use of chemicals, deforestation, gem mining, export activities and other human activities. So it is the duty of each and every one of us to protect our fish resources.
