Archimedes Once said that he could lift
the earth with the help of a lever that had a place to stand and a suitable
length. Can humans really influence the movement of the earth? Today we are
going to tell you about a wonderful human creation that was able to influence
the movement of the earth in that way. This is the story of the world’s largest
power plant, which is named based on the amount of energy it produces.
China’s
Thr
ee Gorges Dam is the world’s largest hydroelectric plant based on the amount
of energy it produces. The dam was built in the Yichang area of Hubei Province,
China, across the Yangtze River. It is 2335m long and 181m high and can hold about
27200 million liters of water. Launched in 2003, it has been producing 22,500 MW
of power since 2012.
Although
the reservoir was able to generate a power of 101.6 TW, breaking this record in
2018, it is still second only to the record of 123 TW generating energy in 2016
by the Itaipu Dam between Brazil and Paraguay. However, the three-gorge power
plant is still the largest power-producing hydropower plant in a year.
The construction of the three gorges dam was prompted by the Yangtze advice to reduce flooding in the lower slopes due to the Yangtze River. However, it is correct to say that the world economy today also depends on this dam. According to economists, 15 percent of the world's manufacturing process is done with the energy it generates.
